Mechanism of action

Diclofenac diethylamine is a derivative of Diclofenac which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). NSAIDs inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX)-1 and-2 which are the enzyme responsible for producing prostaglandins (PGs). PGs contribute to inflammation and pain signalling. Diclofenac, like other NSAIDs, is often used as first line therapy for acute and chronic pain and inflammation from a variety of causes.

Methyl salicylate (oil of wintergreen or wintergreen oil) is an organic ester naturally produced by many species of plants, particularly wintergreens. Methyl salicylate relieve musculoskeletal pain in the muscles, joints, and tendons by causing irritation and reddening of the skin due to dilated capillaries and increased blood flow. It is pharmacologically similar to aspirin and other NSAIDs but as a topical agent it primarily acts as a rubefacient and skin irritant. Counter-irritation is believed to cause a soothing sensation of warmth.

Linseed Oil is also known as flaxseed oil and shows high inflammatory index, flaxseed oil helps minimise skin irritation, redness and inflammation of any sort. Skin rashes diminish with topical application. If you are suffering from any sort of chronic skin conditions like persistent acne, rosacea or dermatitis, you can always take a drop of flaxseed oil on your finger and apply it with the tip of your finger on the affected area and blend it in. Another benefit of flaxseed oil is that it moisturises your skin and hydrates it from within.

Menthol works by causing the skin to feel cool and then warm. These feelings on the skin distract you from feeling the aches/pains deeper in your muscles and joints.
